12/18/2012: Chinese Coins

Large replicas of Chinese coins on sticks for decorative purposes. At least I have to assume they are only decorative and not actually legal tender in China. And I doubt I'll ever have the opportunity to find out, because in the even I ever do get to visit China I'm not dragging this along on the off chance I'd have enough to buy a hot dog with them. Assuming they have hot dogs in China. Which I doubt they do. Besides, if I'm ever in China I'm going to want to eat as much authentic Chinese food as I can. Or as they call it there, "food."

11/9/2012: Desk

This desk is something that I probably should have gotten rid of long ago (in my quest to obtain more adult furniture items rather than assemble it yourself press board crap) but I like the simplicity of what I've got. It's high enough and doesn't have that damn keyboard tray that hits my knees and there's nothing underneath to obstruct leg room.

11/5/2012: Dell Computer

The new Dell computer arrived last week. The old Dell computer worked well enough... unless I wanted to have three things going at once or dared to open a photo for editing in the ancient version of Photoshop I used. Going to hook the old one up to the TV to see if I can use it for videos. Probably be the last true desktop I get. But why are they still so huge? I thought things got smaller and better. Shouldn't it be a fifth this size by now?

8/21/2012: Checkbook

Gather round children and gaze upon the bill paying method of the days of yore... the checkbook! I write two checks a month usually, one to pay my mortgage (their online bill pay site is jacked) and one to pay the cable bill (because the bastards charge a $5 fee to pay online! Suck it Mediacom.).

8/13/2012: Pitcher

I use this pitcher to refill the aquarium when its water level gets low and I usually just leave it sitting on top of the aquarium between uses. At one time there was a lid but that disappeared long long ago.

8/10/2012: Rectangular Baskets

These rectangular baskets sit on my bookcase and are there to hold old mass market paperback, back issues of magazines and other miscellaneous things. Usually my check book is in the there somewhere too, for when I'm feeling Amish and want to write a check.

8/3/2012: Brown Notebook

When I'm feeling analog I like to jot things down in the brown notebook. Yes, I know there's an app for that but I still like the visceral feel of putting my thoughts down on actual paper. I tend to keep track of photo ideas and lists of random whatever here.

6/18/2012: Desk Chair

If I'm awake and not on the couch (not to imply I'm always awake when I'm on the couch, far from it especially on Sunday afternoons) chances are I'm in my desk chair. In fact I'm sitting in it at this very moment as I type out this riveting description. It must know I'm writing about it because so far tonight it's decided not to suddenly drop to it's lowest setting and leave me struggling to climb out and raise it back up.

5/24/2012: Shredder

I finally decided to pull out the shredder and tackle the mound of junk mail credit card solicitations I've collected over the last year or so. Honestly I'd like to just stop receiving mail all together, is that possible?Of course, then what would I do with the shredder? Maybe use it to shred lettuce for tacos?

5/19/2012: Cartman Mouse Pad

I've had this Cartman mouse pad for a very very long time. Well over a decade now. The foam is desiccated and crumbling around the edges and I shudder to think how filthy the thing is. I'd wash it but I'm pretty sure that would destroy it. When a plague eventually does sweep the earth bringing about a zombie apocalypse, chances are it will be from a super germ or virus that grew on this mouse pad.

5/11/2012: Pillow

Shopping for decorative pillows for the couch is, I've come to find out, one of my least favorite things to do. Mainly because I think they're stupidly expensive for what they are. Which is why when I saw a pair of these on clearance at Target ($9 for a pair! Which is still more than they should be but... whatever...) I grabbed them.

4/30/2012: Cloverleaf Dairy Bottle/Bank

The eggnog that once filled this Cloverleaf Dairy bottle was delicious. When is it eggnog season again???

4/16/2012: Samsung Computer Monitor

You can see my W2 and tax docs from my mortgage company sitting under the computer monitor from doing my taxes early. Two whole days early! Finished them up yesterday.

3/27/2012: Wall Clock

Is a wall clock still technically a wall clock if it's sitting on a plate stand on a shelf in a bookcase? Maybe I should call this one "Shelf Clock?" But would anybody know what that is?

3/10/2012: Second Couch

This second couch is sort of a glorified futon really, the back folds down to make a spare bed. For all the overnight guests I have...

It's also a convenient spot to sit while watching Archer on Netflix instant.

2/16/2012: Aquarium

55 gallons and in desperate need of a plecostamus, I purchased my aquarium roughly a decade ago. I think I made it a birthday present to myself when I turned 32. Because of course everyone knows your 32nd birthday is more commonly known as the "glass box of water birthday." I haven't actually purchased any new fish for it for probably 6 years. The ones I have (a few angel fish and a few clown loaches) just keep not dying.

1/18/2012: Paper Lantern Floor Lamp

This is a paper lantern floor lamp that they sell at Target that I didn't get at Target. I'd been looking for additional lighting for my desk/computer but didn't want a desk lamp that actually sat on my desk, wanted something that would hang above. Thought this would be perfect when I spotted it at Target, it arches over my desk and lights things evenly. But... it was $60! For a paper lantern! Screw that.

Did I mention at this time I was living in an apartment complex? No? Well I was. One day while taking my trash out I noticed someone had set, next to the dumpster... this lamp. I looked around... nobody was watching me... SO... I took it. It wasn't *IN* the garbage after all, it was merely garbage adjacent. Call it "garbage lamp" if you'd like (and I do), but it works great and best of all it was free.

Let me repeat, it was garbage adjacent, not actually *IN* the garbage.
