11/9/2012: Desk

This desk is something that I probably should have gotten rid of long ago (in my quest to obtain more adult furniture items rather than assemble it yourself press board crap) but I like the simplicity of what I've got. It's high enough and doesn't have that damn keyboard tray that hits my knees and there's nothing underneath to obstruct leg room.

10/13/2012: Verona Bookcase

Got this Verona bookcase recently as a replacement for the cheaper shelves that were once in this spot in the living room. (Those shelves are in the basement now.) Got two actually, once is next to my bed acting as a nightstand.

10/9/2012: Brady Bunch Shelves

This is the story of these bookshelves, or as I refer to them my Brady Bunch shelves. Imagine Alice in the center and you'll get the why. Another relegated to the basement item. They used to be where I kept my clothes, once folded and stacked, since I'm not a dresser person. That was back when I had an apartment with a walk-in closet. People in the 40s (when my house was built) must not have had clothes. Or they were much much smaller and could walk into what I have for closets.

10/8/2012: Big Green Chair

My big green chair is ugly and faded now and even though it's been relegated to the basement it may be the world's most comfortable chair. Let's see The Tick get out of this one.

10/5/2012: Tetris Shelves

In case you hadn't noticed (and you probably didn't as i doubt there's actually very many of you even looking) all the stuff I've posted for nearly the last two weeks (plus several things previously posted) had something in common. They're all in the dining room and they're all displayed on these Tetris shelves. I call them that because the shelves are two separate L-shaped pieces that can be fit together in different ways.

9/22/2012: Coffee Table

Came across this wooden carpenter's tool box turned coffee table at West End Architectural Salavage this afternoon and snatched it up. Sure, it's just a wooden box with an attached glass top and wheels screwed to the bottom but it really is (almost) exactly what I had in mind when I started my coffee table search. Time to stick the old one in the basement.

9/17/2012: Parsons Chair

This parsons chair and its twin are at the dining room table and get sat in once or maybe twice a year. Which makes you wonder why I feel the need to get a set of four dining room chairs instead of just these two?

9/4/2012: End Table

This end table, like my coffee table, came from KMart meaning it's one of those particle board assemble it yourself pieces of junk. But it fulfills it primary purpose which is to keep my drinks off the floor while I sit on the couch watching TV. And although it came from the same "collection" it isn't the same color as the coffee table. On my list of things-to-soon-be-replaced. Where it's been for many many years.

9/1/2012: Mattress & Boxspring

Currently my mattress and boxspring are leaning up against the shelves in the guest bedroom. Why? Because I decided this weekend would be a good time to repaint my bedroom. I also decided it should be two shades of gray separated by a red stripe. Just has "disaster" written all over it doesn't it?

8/12/2012: Shelves

Don't tell these shelves but I bought their replacement earlier today at World Market so soon they'll be relegated to the basement (a week from tomorrow they were out of stock in the store but have more coming in). Currently they sit next to the television and have some of my DVD TV seasons sets along with some of the stuff I've posted before like yesterday's elephant book ends, and earlier items such as the metal clock and wooden turtle from my grandmother's house.

7/28/2012: Ladder Shelf

I've always liked the stuff in the Pottery Barn catalog but until recently wasn't in a financial position to purchase anything from them, what with their stuff being ridiculously expensive and all. So often I'd see something I liked and then wait until there was a cheaper Target knock-off version of it. And here's that cheaper version of the PB ladder shelf! These shelves also contain quite a few items I've already posted including my birthday plate, cousin's picture, key cabinet, stack of books and small wooden donkey. And clearly a couple more weeks' worth of other miscellaneous crap yet to be photographed.

7/4/2012: Bed

Nothing like coming home to your own bed after a few nights on the road. Especially a bed that isn't located anywhere near the lounge of the Bismark ND Comfort Inn.

6/21/2012: Wicker Love Seat

Last summer I had to run to Target to pick up a bag of dog food while on my lunch break from work. And that quick trip happened to coincide with the moment they were marking down the remaining patio furniture from 33% off to 75% off. So I was able to snag this wicker love seat and two matching chairs for what one of the chairs along would normally have cost. I do love that final let's-get-the-hell-rid-of-this-crap markdown.

6/18/2012: Desk Chair

If I'm awake and not on the couch (not to imply I'm always awake when I'm on the couch, far from it especially on Sunday afternoons) chances are I'm in my desk chair. In fact I'm sitting in it at this very moment as I type out this riveting description. It must know I'm writing about it because so far tonight it's decided not to suddenly drop to it's lowest setting and leave me struggling to climb out and raise it back up.

6/11/2012: Wrought Iron Cafe Set

This wrought iron cafe set isn't actually a set at all. I got the table at Target and the chairs are from my brother's bar - he stored them in my basement while the place was under construction, let me keep a couple as a storage fee.

4/15/2012: Coffee Table

I've had this coffee table a very very long time, probably at least 10 years. And it isn't a particularly nice one. I think I got it at KMart. Been meaning to upgrade for awhile now but haven't really gotten around to it. It serves it's purpose I guess - a place to keep the remotes and the magazine. And yes, a place to set a cup of coffee.

4/4/2012: Chair

This chair matches the couch that I posted a couple months ago. While the couch was the result of a years long couch search, the chair just kind of came along with it. Chairs like this are just the sidekicks of the furniture world, Robin to their respective couch's Batman.

4/2/2012: Outdoor Coffee Table

This outdoor coffee table has been sitting in my garage in its box waiting to be assembled for two possibly three years. It was one of those late-season buys, when the last few odds and end in the lawn and garden section of Target hit the 75% off point - you know, just before it's time to set up the Back to School stuff there. I actually kind of forgot I even had it. But yesterday the table's wait was over, and I used my ratchet set to finally put it all together.

3/10/2012: Second Couch

This second couch is sort of a glorified futon really, the back folds down to make a spare bed. For all the overnight guests I have...

It's also a convenient spot to sit while watching Archer on Netflix instant.

2/19/2012: Bench

The bench is where the cat likes to lay while he stares idly out the window. Oh, wait... I don't have a cat. Or do I?

Let me start again... this bench is where the dog likes to lay while he stares out the window ensuring that nobody dares to walk by the walk. Especially those who have the balls to walk their dog by the house. Or across the street. And boy watch out if you have the unmitigated gall to push a stroller past the house.
