11/25/2012: Bird Feeder

When I bought the house this bird feeder was in the shed in the backyard. Free bird feeder with purchase of a house? SCORE!

10/16/2012: Wall Mounted Shelves

These wall mounted shelves hang in the dining room. Usually this is where I display Holiday Hamster, most so the dog can reach and destroy it.

10/3/2012: Carved Panel

I got this carved panel on a trip to India several years ago. That statement is completely 100% true. Once you replace the word "India" with the word "Target."

9/22/2012: Coffee Table

Came across this wooden carpenter's tool box turned coffee table at West End Architectural Salavage this afternoon and snatched it up. Sure, it's just a wooden box with an attached glass top and wheels screwed to the bottom but it really is (almost) exactly what I had in mind when I started my coffee table search. Time to stick the old one in the basement.

9/10/2012: Beaded Table Runner

I cleaned off the pile of miscellaneous magazines and junk mail so I could get a decent picture of the beaded table runner on the coffee table. Then replaced them after the pic was taken.

6/27/2012: Carved Elephant Box

This carved elephant box sits on my desk and is where I keep thing like thumb drives and SD cards. Basically a catch all for small random crap I don't want out on the desk and needs someplace to go. It also has the cords I need to charge my iPod... which was stolen out of my car 2 or maybe even 3 years ago. Maybe I should clean out the box...

6/8/2012: Over-the-sink Shelf

I got this over-the-sink shelf when I lived in my last apartment so I could put plants on it - the only sunny window was over the sink. When I got the house it wasn't high enough for me to use the faucet properly, so I stuck some ugly chunk of scrap wood under each leg. And look, I fixed it myself!

5/4/2012: Wooden Crab

This wooden crab is the carved animal companion piece to a wooden turtle I posted in the early days of this blog. They were a couple of my favorite things my grandmother had in her house. It was a memento from a vacation she and my grandfather had taken to Jamaica (I think) long before I was born. It's an item that I'll always associate with my grandmother, full of the nostalgia of youthful visits to New Jersey, which is why it was one of the things I wanted after she passed away. The crab's shell lifts up to reveal a small compartment. I suppose you keep your weed in there? It IS from Jamaica after all. Don;t worry, my grandmother would find me saying that funny. We used to watch Benny Hill reruns together when I was 8 so she had a sense of humor.

5/1/2012: Small Wooden Donkey

This small wooden donkey clearly demonstrates one thing: I need to dust my shelves.
