12/24/2012: Snowman Plate

A large decorative but pretty much entirely useless snowman plate. I pull it out every year and set it on the table. Usually use it to serve cookies. Sometimes to hold the remotes or received mail receptacle.

11/26/2012: Horse

It's a horse statue. Sits on the floor in the corner of the living room. One of those cheap clearance things you buy at Target, get home and realize "Well I guess I own a horse statue now." But hey, the Bradys had one in their living room too right?

10/28/2012: Jack O' Lanterns

One happy and one scary, kind of a comedy and horror thing going with these Jack o' lanterns. Got them after Halloween (and thus 50% off) at Target several years back. Now they make a nice accompaniment to the Grim Reaper.

10/10/2012: Shorts

Bought these shorts at Target this evening. Why would I buy an article of clothing that I likely won't get a chance to wear for 5 or 6 months? Two words... well, one number, one symbol and two words: 70% off clearance. The few pair of gym shorts I have are pretty ragged so these will come in handy. Not for going to the gym of course.

10/4/2012: Ladybug Appetizer Plate

This ladybug appetizer plate combined two things I like. First there was the vintage style of the print, like an illustration from an old guide book to identifying insects. And second it was on clearance crazy cheap at Target. I think it was $0.24. I figure there were other prints and styles at one time, but this one was the only leftover.

Note: I've never actually eaten appetizers off this plate.

9/26/2012: Green Vase

Interesting fact: this green vase has never had flowers in it. OK. Clearly I'm taking some liberties with the word "interesting."

9/24/2012: Pig

This is a ceramic (or something) pig that I bought only because it was on clearance for 90% off and I figured who could pass up a deal like that? It was leftover patio stuff at the end of the season at Target.

6/21/2012: Wicker Love Seat

Last summer I had to run to Target to pick up a bag of dog food while on my lunch break from work. And that quick trip happened to coincide with the moment they were marking down the remaining patio furniture from 33% off to 75% off. So I was able to snag this wicker love seat and two matching chairs for what one of the chairs along would normally have cost. I do love that final let's-get-the-hell-rid-of-this-crap markdown.

6/10/2012: Canvas Shoes (camo)

These shoes prove that I can still be taken in by a commercial. Saw these canvas shoes in an Old Navy ad. Not a particularly great ad (it was no Old Navy Performance Fleece commercial that's for sure) but I wanted the shoes. I didn't rush out to get them. I rarely rush out to get anything any more. My rushing out days are behind me. In fact, likely wouldn't have ever gotten them if I hadn't happened to go to the mall theater to see Avengers a few weeks ago and Old Navy was right there. But I'd put off going to get them long enough that by the time I made it to the mall they were on clearance! Score! Who says procrastination doesn't pay off? And they're about as comfortable as you'd expect shoes you paid $9 for to be.

5/11/2012: Pillow

Shopping for decorative pillows for the couch is, I've come to find out, one of my least favorite things to do. Mainly because I think they're stupidly expensive for what they are. Which is why when I saw a pair of these on clearance at Target ($9 for a pair! Which is still more than they should be but... whatever...) I grabbed them.

4/27/2012: Wooden Vase

I know this wooden vase doesn't seem like something the dog should hate, and most of the time he doesn't even notice it. Until it gets knocked over and rolls and rattles around on the hard wood floor. THAT he doesn't like.

4/2/2012: Outdoor Coffee Table

This outdoor coffee table has been sitting in my garage in its box waiting to be assembled for two possibly three years. It was one of those late-season buys, when the last few odds and end in the lawn and garden section of Target hit the 75% off point - you know, just before it's time to set up the Back to School stuff there. I actually kind of forgot I even had it. But yesterday the table's wait was over, and I used my ratchet set to finally put it all together.
